Review: The Kubota L3902 is the no-nonsense compact many buyers actually need
It skips the gadgets, but the L3902 earns its keep with a tough loader and an honest price.

The Kubota L3902 will not win any spec-sheet contests. There is no fancy display, no cab option on our test unit and no electronic hitch control. What it offers instead is a 38-horsepower diesel, a hydrostatic transmission that is easy to modulate and a loader that lifted every pallet we threw at it.
Over two weeks of moving gravel, clearing brush and grading a driveway, the L3902 proved easy to live with. The operator station is cramped for taller drivers, and the platform gets warm in summer, but the controls fall to hand and the steering is light even with a full bucket.
Where the tractor shines is value. Configured with a loader and a rear blade, it came in noticeably below comparable machines from competing brands, and Kubota's dealer network means parts are rarely far away.
If you want comfort features, look elsewhere. If you want a tractor that starts every morning and does the work, the L3902 is hard to beat.

Had mine four years. Only thing I've replaced is a battery. Agree on the cramped platform though.

The hydro on these is so smooth. Easy for my wife to learn on.

Wish they'd add a mid PTO option for mowing, but otherwise a great machine.
